Job summary

Saia is seeking a dock worker to sort and handle freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, and trailers. The role uses forklifts and pallet jacks to load and unload freight while adhering to DOT regulations and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include securing shipments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation. The position emphasizes safety, efficiency, and a team-oriented culture within a large nationwide logistics network.

Qualifications

• Must have forklift or pallet jack experience.
• Forklift certification or hazmat training preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks in compliance with regulations.
• Operate dock tools to secure and check freight and maintain straps, bars, air bags, and dunnage.
• Load, recouple, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
• Verify shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
• Follow bill and quality control procedures to ensure timely, cost-efficient shipments.
• Log, report, and process shortages and damages to freight.
• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
