Job summary

Estes Express in Norfolk, VA is seeking a dock worker to load and unload freight using a forklift, pallet jack or hand truck. You will strap and pad freight to prevent damage and accurately record freight condition upon arrival at the service center.

The role requires pre/post-shift equipment inspections, strict attendance, and the ability to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends. You must lift ~70 lbs and interact well with others in a team environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years old.
• Experience in transportation industry preferred.
• Stable employment history preferred.
• Prior operation of a forklift or forklift certification preferred.
• Able to push or pull a loaded pallet jack/hand truck with 70 lbs minimum.
• Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting, twisting, etc.
• Able to work all shifts, overtime and weekends; dependable.
• Able to lift ~70 lbs. or more as needed.
• Must follow policies, be able to interact with others, work independently or in a team.
• Capable of working under time constraints in a high-volume environment.

• Responsible for accurately recording the condition of freight as it arrives at the service center
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspection of dock equipment
