Job summary

Perdue Farms in Petaluma, CA is seeking a dependable Dock Worker to help maintain a smooth production flow. You will move materials using powered equipment, load and unload, and ensure loads are secure.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely handling of pallets in a fast-paced facility. This position offers a target wage of $24.94 per hour with overtime potential and a robust benefits package including medical, Rx, 401(k), pension contributions, and other protections.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.
  • Prior experience operating pallet jacks or forklifts.
  • High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize production schedules and/or shipping orders, transports materials or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.
  • Move product packed on pallets or in crates as required.
  • Check to make sure loads are secure.
  • May need to stack empty pallets; notify supervisor of misplacements.
  • Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck's battery and lubricating equipment.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • May be required to use RF scanner handheld unit to scan pallets.
  • Maintain a clean and safety working environment.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner following facility guidelines.

Summary

Join our team as a Dock Worker and help keep our production flow running strong! We’re looking for a skilled, safety‑driven operator who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in moving materials with accuracy and efficiency. In this role, you’ll use powered industrial equipment to transport products throughout the facility, supporting storage, staging, docking, and production needs to keep operations on track. This position has a target wage of $24.94 per hour, with negotiated increases. Overtime may be available. Schedule

Sunday 4:00pm-1:00am, Monday-Thursday 7pm-3:30am

  • Utilize production schedules and/or shipping orders, transports materials or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.
  • Move product packed on pallets or in crates as required.
  • Check to make sure loads are secure.
  • May need to stack empty pallets. Notifies supervisor of any pallets which are not in the correct locations.
  • Perform daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck's battery and lubricating equipment.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • May be required to use RF scanner handheld unit to scan pallets.
  • Maintain a clean and safety working environment.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner following facility guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.
  • Prior experience operating pallet jacks or forklifts.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

When in a plant environment:

  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100%humidity.
  • May handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110db.
  • May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
  • Able to stand for several hours.
  • Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
  • Safely lift, move, and handle product and materials, including physically lifting items as required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Operate a forklift to safely stage and move product into trucks, following all required safety procedures and operating guidelines.
