Job summary

Leidos seeks a senior SOC leader to oversee security operations, incident response, and continuous monitoring across enterprise networks, cloud environments, and applications. You will ensure DoD RMF compliance, coordinate with government leadership, and drive process improvement.

The role requires an active Secret clearance, DoD 8140 alignment, and a track record of building high-performing cyber defense teams capable of maturing SOC capabilities in complex government environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree + 10 years of progressively responsible cybersecurity operations/leadership experience or equivalent
  • Experience leading an enterprise SOC or cyber defense team
  • Experience directing cyber incident response in large, complex environments
  • Experience building and developing technical teams for cyber operations
  • Experience developing SOC operating procedures, incident response playbooks, workflows, and metrics
  • Strong understanding of enterprise cybersecurity operations, SIEM, EDR, network monitoring, and vulnerability management
  • Ability to communicate risks and status to senior Government leadership and executives
  • Active Secret Security Clearance and ability to maintain it
  • DoD 8140 certification requirements alignment
  • Experience with DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) Work Role 511 – Advanced

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational management of the SOC
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing cybersecurity team
  • Direct enterprise cyber incident response activities and reporting
  • Interface with Government leadership on operational status and threats
  • Develop and improve SOC procedures, playbooks, workflows, and training
  • Establish priorities and metrics to improve SOC effectiveness
  • Coordinate cyber defense across Government, contractors, and external providers
  • Oversee continuous monitoring of networks, endpoints, clouds, apps, and tools
  • Provide recommendations to reduce cyber risk and improve defenses
  • Ensure SOC operations comply with DoD policies and RMF guidance
  • Support assessments, planning, and process improvement
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence
  • Support Leidos program as Deputy Program Manager and act as Program Manager when needed

Job description

  • Provide overall leadership and operational management of the Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing cybersecurity team responsible for continuous monitoring, cyber threat detection, incident analysis, and incident response
  • Direct enterprise cyber incident response activities, including detection, analysis, containment, eradication, recovery, and reporting
  • Serve as the primary operational interface with Government leadership regarding operational status, emerging threats, and significant cybersecurity incidents
  • Develop and improve SOC standard operating procedures, incident response playbooks, analyst workflows, and training programs
  • Establish operational priorities and performance metrics to improve SOC effectiveness, maturity, and analyst readiness
  • Coordinate cyber defense activities across Government organizations, contractor teams, and external Cybersecurity Service Providers
  • Oversee continuous monitoring of enterprise networks, endpoints, cloud environments, applications, and cybersecurity tools
  • Provide recommendations to reduce enterprise cyber risk and improve defensive capabilities
  • Ensure SOC operations comply with DoD cybersecurity policies, DoD 8140 requirements, RMF guidance, and industry best practices
  • Support cybersecurity assessments, operational planning, and continuous process improvement
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence within the SOC
  • Support the Leidos program as Deputy Program Manager, including staffing, workforce performance, retention, resource needs, employee development, program risks, commitments, and performance
  • Serve as acting Program Manager in the Program Manager's absence
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 10 years of progressively responsible experience in cybersecurity operations, cyber defense, incident response, or Security Operations Center leadership; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in accordance with Leidos equivalency guidelines
  • Experience leading an enterprise Security Operations Center (SOC), Cyber Defense Team, Computer Network Defense (CND) organization, or equivalent cyber operations function
  • Experience leading cyber incident response within large, complex enterprise environments
  • Experience managing and developing technical teams responsible for cyber operations
  • Experience developing SOC operating procedures, incident response playbooks, operational workflows, and performance metrics
  • Strong understanding of enterprise cybersecurity operations, SIEM technologies, endpoint detection and response (EDR), network security monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability management, and cyber incident management
  • Ability to communicate cybersecurity risks, operational status, and technical issues to senior Government leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to maintain the required clearance
  • Ability to satisfy applicable DoD 8140 certification requirements for the assigned work role
  • Experience aligned with DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) Work Role 511 – Cyber Defense Analyst (Advanced)
  • Ability to support onsite operations at the Government's Mark Center (Alexandria, VA) or DoD Center–Monterey Bay (Seaside, CA) in accordance with contract requirements
