Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Oklahoma City is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform tests in microbiology and assist with specimen processing. You will work on a professional team in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include an AS or BS in Medical Laboratory Technology and MT/MLT certification or eligibility, plus knowledge of QA/QC and general lab computer skills. Rotating 10-hour shifts and overtime are required.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30pm-7:00am; variable hours (4-10 hour shifts) rotating weekends and holidays

Report to work on time and prepared for each scheduled shift

Responsibilities

• Perform tests in microbiology and assist with specimen processing as needed.
• Follow employer policies.
• Working with fellow employees in a professional, productive manner.
• Performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge

• General laboratory knowledge, including the ability to use computers.
• Must have knowledge of QA and QC.
• Previous experience in Microbiology or Molecular Biology preferred.

Required Experience

• AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology. ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification.

Special Requirements

• Ability to maintain a professional courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress.
• Teamwork with fellow employees is a must.
• Keyboard skills are important.
• Good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude.
• Must work overtime or other shifts if required.
• Able to work 10 hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays.

Physical And Mental Requirements

• The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
• Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
• Frequent walking and/or standing.
• May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
