Thoracic Surgery program is part of our integrated, multispecialty system, working with the members of interventional medical and surgical teams, committed to the highest quality and outcomes.In addition, our program is further augmented by our many other resources associated with our academic institution including our inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programResident activity with the department of surgery is highly engaging at our University Medical Center and Level I Trauma Center. The department of surgery trains over 25 residents and fellows, while our section of Pulmonary and Critical Medicine trains 15 fellows, year over year.Candidates will be working in an academic and teaching environment educating Creighton University's surgical residents and medical students and conducting research in collaboration with scientists within Common Spirit Health and the Creighton University School of Medicine. Founded by the merger of Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives in 2019, Common Spirit Health is the largest Catholic health system and the second-largest nonprofit hospital chain in the United States.The ideal candidate will be board certified in thoracic surgery with fellowship training in non-cardiac thoracic surgery, clinical experience in the management of thoracic diseases, and training in minimally invasive surgery and/or robotic assisted surgery and a desire to develop and lead an integrated thoracic oncology program. In addition, the candidate should have a strong academic interest and participate in resident education and clinical research. A minimum of 5 years of experience with demonstrated leadership skills is preferred.
