Job summary

Baylor College of Medicine seeks a Division Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology to lead anesthesia services for labor and delivery, maternal-fetal medicine, obstetric surgery, and postpartum care at CHRISTUS Childrens Hospital. The Chief partners with hospital, surgical, nursing, and medical staff leaders to deliver safe, efficient, family-centered, evidence-based care.

The role requires MD/DO and board certification with fellowship or equivalent high-volume obstetric anesthesia experience, plus

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Board-certified in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology or equivalent advanced experience in a high-volume labor and delivery program.
• Unrestricted Texas medical licensure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, timely anesthesia for cesarean deliveries and obstetric emergencies.
• Provide 24/7 coverage and rapid response.
• Standardize protocols, care pathways, and evidence-based practices.
• Lead safety, quality, and family-experience initiatives.
• Coordinate physician/APP staffing, scheduling, and coverage.

Education

MD/DO degree

Board-certified in Anesthesiology

Fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology

Unrestricted Texas medical licensure
