You’ll provide strategic leadership for a dedicated team of 6–8 cardiac anesthesiologists within a collaborative department of 23 anesthesiologists and 27 CRNAs while helping shape the future of cardiac anesthesiology through clinical excellence, faculty development, recruitment, quality improvement, and program growth. Working closely with cardiac surgery, cardiology, and hospital leadership, you’ll help advance a comprehensive cardiovascular program that includes structural heart interventions and mechanical circulatory support, all supported by the EPIC electronic medical record system. Every day you will maintain an active clinical practice providing anesthetic care for a full spectrum of advanced adult cardiac procedures, including CABG and valve surgeries, structural heart interventions (TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, and others), complex aortic surgery, and ECMO cases. You’ll perform and interpret advanced intraoperative TEE, collaborate within a multidisciplinary heart team to optimize perioperative outcomes, develop clinical protocols and care pathways, oversee quality and regulatory initiatives, mentor faculty, and represent the division through strategic leadership and national professional engagement.

To be successful in this role, you will be a fellowship-trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist with advanced TEE expertise and a passion for academic medicine, leadership, and innovation. You will enjoy teaching and mentoring residents and medical students through Creighton University School of Medicine’s newly established Anesthesiology Residency Program, with opportunities to develop a future cardiac anesthesia fellowship, expand research and quality initiatives, support faculty academic advancement, and help build one of the region’s premier academic cardiac anesthesiology programs.
