Job summary

The City of Baltimore is seeking a leader to manage investigations related to equal opportunity and diversity issues, including discrimination and harassment complaints, coordinating with EEOC for external cases. This role supervises investigators and advises the Police Commissioner on DEI-related policies.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and familiarity with Title VII Civil Rights Act, with a focus on maintaining compliance and guiding a diverse department toward equity goals.

Qualifications

  • Education: Have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
  • OR
  • Equivalency notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary lead on the management of all investigations surrounding equal opportunity or diversity related complaints, claims of discrimination based on a protected class, claims of harassment based on a protected class or characteristics, and coordination with the EEOC for all external complaints regarding discrimination.
  • Supervises a team of departmental members to complete all investigations of BPD members for claims of harassment, discrimination or EEOC complaints and reviews the work product to ensure all investigations are completed.
  • Serves as a senior advisor to the Police Commissioner on all Departmental matters related to policies that impact diversity, equity, claims of retaliation, or discrimination
  • Coordinates with Deputy Commissioners and the Chief of Staff to ensure that the goals set forth in the Police Commissioner’s strategic vision for the Department are being implemented.
