Qualifications

• Knowledge of school safety procedures, district security operations, and emergency response protocols.
• Knowledge of patrol practices, access control, and incident documentation procedures.
• Ability to observe, assess, and appropriately respond to unsafe or criminal situations.
• Strong communication, conflict management, and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive during emergencies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to operate district vehicles safely in varied conditions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, visitors, and law enforcement agencies.
• Physical ability to patrol large areas and respond quickly to incidents.

Responsibilities

• Patrol district schools, administrative buildings, parking lots, athletic facilities, and surrounding property.
• Verify identification and purpose of visitors entering district properties.
• Escort unauthorized individuals from district property when necessary.
• Assist with security operations for Board meetings, public events, athletic functions, and district programs.
• Respond to alarms, disturbances, fights, threats, medical emergencies, accidents, suspicious activity, and other safety concerns.
• Assess incidents, secure scenes, and determine need for additional support or law enforcement response.
• Intervene to stop or prevent conflicts, criminal acts, or safety hazards using approved methods.
• Provide armed response consistent with district training, policy, and certification standards.
• Assist with lockdowns, evacuations, shelter-in-place events, drills, and emergency operations.
• Provide first aid/CPR within certification guidelines and complete required injury reporting.
• Build professional and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.
• Reinforce district policies, school rules, and Student Conduct and Discipline Code.
• Observe, report, and respond to gang activity, weapons concerns, substance use, or other safety risks.
• Support after-school programs, athletic events, and district functions as assigned.
• De-escalate disputes and promote peaceful conflict resolution.
• Maintain detailed patrol logs, activity records, incident reports, and safety documentation.
• Make required notifications through radio, phone, and written communication systems.
• Collaborate with administrators, district leadership, law enforcement, and emergency responders.
• Maintain readiness of assigned vehicle, radio, and security equipment.
• Participate in required training, drills, certifications, and weapons qualification programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
