Position Summary:

Provides coverage in the special education teacher's absence (as assigned) and/or provides instruction for students receiving Home Instruction (as assigned). Ensures that students have continual and equal instructional opportunities.

The District-Wide Special Education Teacher provides specialized academic instruction, accommodations, and behavioral support aligned to students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role ensures that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment. The teacher collaborates with general education staff, related service providers, and families to support student achievement across all settings within the district.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.: Possess or ability to obtain and maintain a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Special Education (Comprehensive Special Education, Mild/Moderate or Severe/Profound certification). Knowledge of IDEA regulations and special education compliance. Proficient in digital tools and learning platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Adequate physical strength and mobility are required to implement strategies for de-escalation and emergency intervention.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to frequently lift more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
