Job summary

Elko District Wide in Elko, Nevada is seeking a Substitute School Nurse to provide essential health services across district schools. The position is part-time and starts immediately, requiring RN or LPN licensure and current CPR/First Aid credentials.

You will manage health records, perform screenings, and coordinate emergency responses while liaising with parents and district staff to safeguard student health. This role emphasizes confidentiality and professional teamwork in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Associate of Nursing Program or a Licensed Practical Nurse Program.
• Current license as a Registered Nurse in Nevada; LPN option allowed per district needs.
• CPR/AED certification through AHA or Red Cross; hands-on and in-person; maintained for assignment duration.
• CPR/First Aid Instructor certification required upon hire.
• Current First Aid certificate as indicated above and Nevada driver’s license.
• Experience in hospital settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Substitute nursing duties at school sites as needed across the district.
• Provide health services for evaluation, improvement, and protection of pupil and staff health.
• Contact parents, paramedics, ambulance, and hospital in emergencies; maintain records.
• Maintain up-to-date health records and assist with health screenings as required by Nevada statutes.
• Identify health needs affecting learning and refer for medical/dental care as needed.
• Educate staff on emergency care procedures and universal isolation protocols.
• Serve as liaison with community health agencies and participate in staff training.
