Job description

Job Description

We are looking for felony prosecutors who want to be in court and in trial. Our office prosecutes a wide range of felony offenses in Bell County, giving prosecutors the opportunity to litigate serious cases while managing them from investigation through disposition.

Responsibilities
  • Draft complaints and indictments.
  • Screen cases submitted by law enforcement, evaluate and review evidence, reports, and recordings.
  • Determine appropriate criminal charges.
  • Advises law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is needed.
  • Represent the State in district court for hearings and trials.
  • Determine appropriate sentence recommendations.
  • Read and research case law.
  • Comply with discovery requirements.
  • Handle assigned cases through disposition with support of the appellate division.
  • Represent the State in probation revocation hearings.
  • Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
  • Preferred criminal litigation experience.
  • License to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Proficient reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.
Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and may require exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis. Routine keyboard operations are required.

Compensation

Salary range between $114,482 and $123,919, based upon experience and qualifications.
