Job summary

Boulder County Parks & Open Space Department is seeking an hourly Planning Assistant to support district-level planning and related administrative tasks. The role emphasizes research, data compilation, and community engagement within a hybrid work arrangement in Longmont, CO.

The position requires 2 years of college coursework in a related field, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work up to 40 hours weekly with some in-office days. Funding through December with potential extension.

Qualifications

• 2 (two) years of college-level coursework in planning, environmental studies, geography, public administration, natural resources, or a closely related field.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Background check is required prior to final offer.

Responsibilities

• Support district-level planning research, including background documentation and data gathering.
• Compile and organize data related to land use, management practices, cultural resources, and environmental conditions.
• Assist with community engagement, including preparation of materials, note-taking, and follow-up communication.
• Prepare planning materials such as written summaries, draft narratives, maps, graphics, and project briefs.
• Participate in field visits to gather site information and observe conditions.
