Job summary

Responsibilities

The District Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance, operations, and execution of PAQ stores within an assigned region. This position provides leadership and direction to store management teams, drives sales and profitability, monitors inventory, labor, shrink, and operational results, and ensures stores maintain company standards for customer service, merchandising, safety, compliance, and overall store conditions.

The District Manager conducts regular store visits, coaches and develops store leaders, identifies performance opportunities, and partners with operations leadership to implement strategies that improve consistency, efficiency, and business results across the district.

Essential Functions of the Position

Knowledge

• Comprehensive knowledge of grocery retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, sales forecasting, store conditions, and customer service standards.
• Knowledge of sales, labor, inventory, shrink, productivity, and operational performance metrics.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, labor guidelines, and applicable laws and regulations related to grocery store operations.
• Knowledge of shrink control, loss prevention, inventory accuracy, and asset protection practices.
• Knowledge of POS systems, inventory management systems, labor/scheduling tools, reporting platforms, and core business applications, including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and Word.

• Strong leadership and people-management skills to guide store management teams, set clear expectations, coach performance, and drive accountability across assigned stores.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with store leadership, associates, customers, vendors, and internal business partners.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify root causes, resolve operational issues, address escalated concerns, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple stores, competing priorities, store visits, follow-up items, deadlines, and reporting requirements efficiently.

• Ability to analyze sales, labor, shrink, inventory, productivity, customer service, and market data to identify trends, make informed decisions, and drive corrective action.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-store retail environment, prioritize competing demands, make sound decisions under pressure, and maintain professional composure.
• Ability to motivate, mentor, coach, and develop store leaders and associates to foster accountability, collaboration, engagement, and consistent execution across assigned stores.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
• Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
• Ability to handle and operate necessary equipment and tools.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
• Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
• Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions

• Work Hours: Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Environment: Indoor, climate-controlled, with adequate lighting and ventilation.
• Primary Work Stations: Work within the grocery store environments, which include various sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
• Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded.
• Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals.
• Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods from customers, store announcements, and equipment.
• Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
