The District Manager In Training (DMIT) program prepares eligible candidates for the District Manager role. As a District Manager, you will guide a team of Store Managers to deliver an exceptional guest experience, operational excellence, and a culture of engagement. You will oversee all area store personnel to achieve regional, division, and company net profit objectives.
Phase I – Foundational training required of every Kwik Shop team member, followed by completion of the MIT Training program to gain insight into Store Manager or Restaurant Manager responsibilities. The final stage is 2‑3 months assigned to one location, managing day‑to‑day store operations.
Phase II – 6‑8 weeks riding with the Designated DM Trainer, observing and performing day‑to‑day duties, practicing the roles and responsibilities of a District Manager. Upon completion, DMITs become District Managers In Waiting, returning to their home store as unit leaders until an area opens.
Store team members, Region Manager, VP of Retail Operations, Human Resources Business Partners and Centers of Excellence, Facilities Maintenance, Marketing, Risk Management, Environmental, Legal departments, and vendors.
High School diploma or GED.
College degree in business or a closely related field. May substitute for a portion of the required experience.
10 years of retail experience, restaurant general management experience, and successful completion of the DMIT Program.
1‑3 years of multi‑unit experience in c‑store or restaurant environment.
None required.
95% traveling from location to location.
Typically Monday – Friday for a 48‑hour work week (mirroring Store Manager work week). Occasional weekend work may be required depending on business needs.
Ability to maneuver and regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand and walk 8 hours a day; reach overhead, bend, squat, twist, reach, grasp and grip.
