Job summary

Kwik Shop Inc. is seeking candidates for a District Manager In Training (DMIT) program to prepare future District Managers who guide Store Managers toward exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence.

You will oversee area personnel to achieve regional, division and company profitability while building a high‑performing leadership team. The program progresses through foundational training, then field experience across locations with 2–3 months in one store and subsequent coaching to

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • College degree in business or a closely related field; may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
  • 10 years of retail experience, restaurant general management experience, and successful completion of the DMIT Program.
  • 1–3 years of multi-unit experience in c-store or restaurant environment.
  • Excellent team building and leadership practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to learn additional programs as needed.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle various issues constructively.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strategic plan for the area, including appropriate staffing levels, development and performance management of all team personnel.
  • Oversee team engagement and productivity across a wide network of locations, fostering a working environment that supports team‑member retention and growth.
  • Demonstrate leadership attributes – building and maintaining trust, setting clear and measurable goals, holding self and others accountable, and communicating frequently and effectively.
  • Build and develop a strong leadership team by hiring or promoting store‑management candidates and ensuring current teams receive appropriate training, coaching and feedback.
  • Analyze financial reports, P&L, gap analysis, and monitor sales, expenses, labor costs and inventory control; evaluate and disseminate data for strategic gain and coach Store Managers to improve profitability.
  • Conduct weekly store visits to ensure compliance with Regional, Division and Company standards regarding store conditions, promotions, operational procedures and financial controls.
  • Ensure area‑wide guest satisfaction and product quality while managing safety and security within the territory.
  • Place high emphasis on food service, increasing sales and monitoring food service standards and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Region Manager.

Position Summary

The District Manager In Training (DMIT) program prepares eligible candidates for the District Manager role. As a District Manager, you will guide a team of Store Managers to deliver an exceptional guest experience, operational excellence, and a culture of engagement. You will oversee all area store personnel to achieve regional, division, and company net profit objectives.

Position Training

Phase I – Foundational training required of every Kwik Shop team member, followed by completion of the MIT Training program to gain insight into Store Manager or Restaurant Manager responsibilities. The final stage is 2‑3 months assigned to one location, managing day‑to‑day store operations.

Phase II – 6‑8 weeks riding with the Designated DM Trainer, observing and performing day‑to‑day duties, practicing the roles and responsibilities of a District Manager. Upon completion, DMITs become District Managers In Waiting, returning to their home store as unit leaders until an area opens.

Requirements
Minimum Education

High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Education

College degree in business or a closely related field. May substitute for a portion of the required experience.

Minimum Experience

10 years of retail experience, restaurant general management experience, and successful completion of the DMIT Program.

Preferred Experience

1‑3 years of multi‑unit experience in c‑store or restaurant environment.

95% traveling from location to location.

Hours & Conditions

Typically Monday – Friday for a 48‑hour work week (mirroring Store Manager work week). Occasional weekend work may be required depending on business needs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to maneuver and regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to stand and walk 8 hours a day; reach overhead, bend, squat, twist, reach, grasp and grip.
