District Maintenance and Traffic Engineer - Northwest District Office

Position Overview

The district maintenance and traffic engineer provides district-wide oversight, technical expertise, and quality assurance of district maintenance operations. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and managing district traffic engineering operations, supervising routine maintenance of state bridges, and ensuring safety and efficiency under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and coordinate district maintenance, traffic, special crews, and equipment activities.
  2. Investigate highway incidents, supervise emergency responses, and conduct field inspections to monitor activities.
  3. Provide technical expertise and quality assurance for district operations and advise on area activities.
  4. Manage district budget, allocate resources, plan for future needs, and prioritize projects based on funding.
  5. Communicate with community leaders, the public, and officials regarding department goals, respond to inquiries and complaints.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri.
  • Eight years of highway or transportation engineering experience.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to moderately adverse environmental conditions.
  • Requires advanced accreditation or licensure related to specific degrees.
