Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking an experienced athletic director to lead interscholastic programs across middle and high schools. The role includes overseeing coaching staff, scheduling fall/winter/spring contests, and coordinating officials and compliance with FHSAA/NFHS/BCAA rules.

The successful candidate will develop an annual training manual, manage safety standards, and collaborate with principals, district offices, and community partners to promote student-athlete success.

Qualifications

• An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; hold or be eligible for a valid Florida Teacher’s Certificate.
• Minimum of five (5) years of full-time teaching experience, including recent experience as an athletic director at the middle or high school level.
• Requires demonstrated experience directing a comprehensive interscholastic athletic program and working knowledge of Florida High School Athletic Association, National Federation of High School, and Broward County Athletic Association rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and administer comprehensive interscholastic athletic program for middle and high school levels.
• Assist principals in the selection and development of athletic directors and/or sport coaches.
• Develop fall, winter and spring sport schedules for all middle school, varsity and junior varsity contests.
• Schedule and reschedule officials for games and contests by coordinating with official associations.
• Oversee compliance with FHSAA/NFHS/BCAA rules and manage officials assignments.
• Develop an annual athletic director training manual and organize events for the athletic community.
• Coordinate district participation in FHSAA playoff and championship series events and manage safety at district facilities.
