Georgia Department of Public Health in Rome, GA, is seeking a Public Health Educator to promote healthy lifestyles and support women’s health, opioid overdose prevention, HIV prevention, and other health programs across Paulding, Haralson, and Bartow Counties.

The role requires a Master’s in Public Health Education (or related field with experience) and involves data analysis, program outreach, and collaboration with diverse partners.

Formación

  • Master’s degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in education, social, behavioral, or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in public health education
  • This position requires collaboration with health specialists, civic groups, and community partners to identify health needs and plan outreach programs
  • Pre-employment checks include drug screening, E-Verify, reference check and criminal background check

  • Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas

Join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

This position is located at the Northwest Health District Office in Rome, Georgia. This position is an unclassified, full-time position working 40 hours per week.

Under general supervision, promotes and maintains the adoption of healthy behaviors for Paulding, Haralson, and Bartow Counties. Through targeted individual and community outreach, position seeks to improve health outcomes for women’s health, opioid overdose, HIV prevention and other health department programs. Collects and analyzes data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The DPH Commissioner and agency leaders encourage all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.

The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and help employees meet their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes of physical activity may be allocated per workday, typically in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.
