Qualifications

District Group X Manager

Position Overview

The District Group X Manager is responsible for leading the Group X Department across all Defined Fitness locations, including the oversight of a diverse range of programming such as Yoga, Pilates, Silver Sneakers, Aquatics, and other specialty formats. This individual ensures high-quality, results-driven instruction and consistent exceptional member experience within all group exercise classes. The District Group X Manager will develop an innovative, member-centric class schedules while operating in a cost-effective and strategic manner. In collaboration with club leadership and the district team, this role plays a key part in advancing member health and fitness goals through dynamic programming, instructor development, and operational excellence.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Drive Group X participation at all clubs through strategic scheduling, targeted talent acquisition, and exceptional member service
• Provide support to Group X Managers/Instructors and foster a high-performance culture rooted in motivation, accountability, and professionalism
• Review/approve commission schedules and incentive programs that align with company goals and drive instructor engagement
• Define and communicate the company’s mission, vision, values, and performance expectations within the Group X department
• Deliver performance feedback and coaching to team members to promote growth and excellence
• Manage departmental budgets across multiple locations, ensuring operational efficiency and responsible resource allocation
• Leading and organizing weekly calls General Managers and Group X Managers to align goals, challenges, and priorities
• Ensure instructors maintain valid and up-to-date certifications in accordance with company industry standards.
• Oversee cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of all group exercise equipment for a positive and safe member experience
• Participate and attend C.O.R.E Office mandatory meetings and trainings.
• Monitor class participation metrics/trends across the district, evaluating program performance and adjusting schedules and formats to meet member demand and club goals
• Accurate and timely payroll processing for all Group X Instructors on a semi-monthly basis
• Provide Director of Sales & Operations with weekly agenda outlines, updates, and departmental performance insights to support strategic planning and execution
• Oversee the end-to-end incident reporting process across all locations, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete documentation
• Primary liaison between Defined Fitness and external legal counsel in all matters related to incidents, claims, and lawsuits while coordinating with club leadership to investigate incidents, gather evidence, and prepare necessary documentation
• Represent the company in meetings with attorneys, claims adjusters, or other legal entities, ensuring company interests are clearly communicated and protected
• Develop and maintain internal protocols for incident response, legal communication, and risk mitigation strategies
• Provide executive leadership with timely updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations regarding active or potential legal matters

• Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness across multiple locations through regular site visits, process evaluations, and execution of best practices, resulting in measurable improvements in departmental operations.
• Strategic Leadership: Proven capability to increase member participation and generate revenue growth in Group Exercise and Small Group Training by executing companywide initiatives and adapting strategies to meet district-specific goals.
• Collaborative Growth Strategies: Skilled in cross-functional collaboration with Regional Managers, Club Leadership, and CORE Office departments to enhance member satisfaction, strengthen program offerings, and drive revenue through shared goals.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of group fitness trends, programming, and instructor development. Ability to provide informed guidance and make data-driven decisions to support organizational objectives.
• Effective Communication and Coordination: Strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable seamless coordination of district-wide initiatives, consistent messaging, and successful alignment with company goals.
• Revenue Generation and Compliance: Ability to strategically utilize Group X offerings to increase revenue while ensuring full compliance with company standards and expectations. Success is measured in consistent growth and operational alignment.
• Team Development and Accountability: Expertise in recruiting, training, and mentoring a high-performing Group X team. Focused on fostering accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement through regular evaluations and support.
• Member-Centric Approach: Commitment to understanding and responding to member needs through engaging class formats and dynamic schedules. Success is reflected in increased participation, high MXN scores, and overall member satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience in business strategy, sales planning and sales analytics
• Success in execution of strategic projects across multiple departments
• Strong leadership, teaming and organizational skills, self-starter and takes initiative to improve the organization
• Valid CPR/AED certification (including infant and child) within the first 45 days of employment and maintain throughout employment
• PC literate, including Microsoft Office and various other products
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to present to various audiences
