Job summary

Patterson-UTI is seeking an Engineering Manager for Power Solutions to lead the design and validation of CNG systems. You will direct a hands-on team through planning, design, testing and product release while coordinating with sales and operations.

Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in Oil & Gas, strong project management, and deep knowledge of piping and electrical systems. This is an on-site leadership role requiring rigorous engineering discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Engineering required.
  • 5-10 years Oil & Gas experience preferred.
  • 2-4 years Gas Facility Design & Construction and Packing, Fabrication & Controls required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate Power Solutions engineering design activities.
  • Lead new product development, including planning, scheduling, cost control and procurement.
  • Design, develop and validate engineering work to support CNG design.
  • Manage projects from planning to product release and handover.
  • Provide technical support to sales, clients, and operations teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date engineering specifications and conformance with codes.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the activities of the Power Solutions engineering design functional areas.
  • Conducting conceptual and feasibility studies pertaining to new projects, and managing new product development including project planning, scheduling, cost control and estimation, procurement and contract management.
  • Responsible for the design, development and validation of all engineering work, and implementing this engineering work to support CNG design.
  • Manage projects including planning, scheduling, design, testing and product release.
  • Support sales, provide technical expertise and support for clients, sales and ops team.
  • Developing and keeping up-to-date the engineering specifications, and design systems in conformance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Responsible for building and leading the Engineering team, including hiring, performance management and terminations.
  • Design, build, support of custom CNG equipment and corresponding facilities.
  • Lead all troubleshooting and RCA activities.
  • Keep aprised of new CNG technologies and strategies, as well as develop or possess in depth knowledge of CNG operations.
  • Liase with all critical suppliers. Work with VP Power Solutions with all supplier related activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to successfully build and manage a team.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work autonomously and make decisions under pressure when required will be an asset.
  • Skilled in professional communication and presentations at all internal levels.
  • Ability to project manage packaging & fabrication activites.
  • Knowledge of piping design, ASME B31.3
  • General knowledge of electrical, controls and heating systems.
  • Knowledge of and skill in project management.
  • Ability to analyze ideas and use logic to determine correct course of action.
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple priorities as well as wear many hats (manage, product design, project manager, sales, manufacturing).
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office and experience with engineering software and databases.
  • Ability to manage while maintaining a hands-on presence. This is a working manager position.
  • Possess technical skills in engineering processes and methods.
Language Requirement

Ability to understand and speak English at a level of proficiency allowing employee to issue, receive and respond to both safety and operations-related directions in English

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's in Engineering

Experience
  • 5-10 years of Oil & Gas (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years of Gas Facility Design & Construction and Packing, Fabrication & Controls (Required)
