North Reading Public Schools is seeking a part-time choral accompanist to support high, middle, and elementary school choirs in rehearsals and performances across the district.

The ideal candidate has advanced piano technique, excellent sight-reading, and strong collaborative skills to respond in real time to student musicians. Hours are flexible, with some evenings and weekends, for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities

• Accompany choral ensemble rehearsals and performances led by Directors (e.g. Winter & Spring Concerts, District All Town Concert).
• Accompany choral groups in various settings (rehearsals, concerts, competitions, auditions) for professional musical support.
• Analyze music prior to rehearsal/performance (tempo, transitions, dynamics) to optimize rehearsal time and schedule.
• Assist choral Directors with student activities (recording music, practicing with individuals or small groups) to support each program.

North Reading Public Schoolsis seeking part-time Accompanistsfor High School, Middle School, and Elementary School Choirs.North Reading Public Schoolsis actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

You will be successful if youare able to be flexible with hours, including occasional nights/weekends.This is a part-time, temporary position forapproximately 50 hours up to $2,000 for the 2026-2027 school year. This position may also be split among multiple accompanist.

Essential duties

• Accompany choral ensemble rehearsals and performances led by Directors (e.g. Winter & Spring Concerts, District All Town Concert)
• Accompany choral groups in a variety of settings (e.g., rehearsals, concerts, competitions, auditions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring professional musical support for students and instructors
• Analyze assigned music prior to rehearsal and performances (e.g., correct tempos, challenging transitions, dynamics, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules
• Assist choral Directors with a variety of student related activities (e.g. recording music on Roland classroom pianos for rehearsal use, practicing with individuals or small groups, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and ensuring the success of each program

Requirements

• Superior collaborative playing skills and the ability to artistically respond in real-time to their student counterpart
• At least two (2) years of prior experience as an Accompanist, preferred
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
