Job summary

School of Science and Technology is seeking a District Character Education Coordinator to lead districtwide implementation and the continuous improvement of our character education initiative across SST campuses. The role reports to the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit and supports grant objectives, professional learning, campus coordination, and data-informed improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in character education, professional learning, curriculum implementation, program coordination, grant implementation, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multi-campus initiatives, professional development, or school improvement efforts is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit, lead district for the Kern Family Foundation grant by overseeing implementation, budget management, reporting, compliance, deliverables, and communication.
  • Lead districtwide implementation and continuous improvement of SST's character education program aligning practices with research-informed frameworks for consistent campus adoption.
  • Develop, implement, and annually review Campus Character Action Plans with regional leadership and campus administrators to ensure consistent execution across SST campuses.
  • Support the review, revision, and implementation of SST's Character Education Board Policy under the Senior Director's guidance.
  • Contribute to standardized character education resources, environmental messaging, and implementation expectations across SST campuses.
  • Coordinate and provide professional learning and implementation support for campus administrators and staff, aligned with Character.org and Kern Family Foundation expectations.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of the Character Education 101 Course and the Developing Educators Certification Program.
  • Provide coaching, implementation support, and monitoring of Character Education responsibilities through campus visits and progress reporting.
  • Support data-informed decision making by developing data collection, surveys, evidence, and evaluation systems.
  • Coordinate districtwide student engagement initiatives such as Texas Character Education Week and other district-approved programs.
  • Assist campuses pursuing National School of Character designations and Promising Practices recognition with coaching and documentation.
  • Participate in SST representation at conferences and contribute to publications and resources.
  • Support new district-approved character education initiatives and pilot projects as assigned.

Job Roles

To coordinate the districtwide implementation, standardization, continuous improvement, and expansion of SST's character education initiative under the leadership of the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit. The position serves as the district's implementation coordinator for the Kern Family Foundation grant by supporting implementation systems, professional learning, campus coordination, data-informed continuous improvement, and operational structures necessary to sustain high-quality character education across all SST campuses.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Successful teaching, instructional coaching, school leadership, or district-level leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in character education, professional learning, curriculum implementation, program coordination, grant implementation, or continuous improvement initiatives preferred
  • Experience coordinating multi-campus initiatives, professional development, or school improvement efforts is preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit, serve as the district lead for the Kern Family Foundation grant by overseeing implementation, budget management, reporting, compliance, deliverables, and communication to ensure the successful execution of all grant objectives.
  • Lead districtwide implementation and continuous improvement of SST's character education program by aligning campus practices with research-informed implementation frameworks and best practices, including Character.org's 11 Principles Framework and the Jubilee Centre Framework, while ensuring consistent implementation across all campuses.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of Campus Character Action Plans in partnership with regional leadership, campus administrators, Campus Character Education & Community Engagement Coordinators, and other key stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of character education across all SST campuses
  • Support the review, revision, and implementation of SST's Character Education Board Policy under the direction of the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standardized character education resources, environmental messaging, and implementation expectations across all SST campuses.
  • Support the development, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the "It Is Possible" implementation framework by helping align academic goals, virtue imagination goals, FACE expectations, and CCMR goals across SST campuses.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and deliver ongoing professional learning and implementation support for campus administrators and staff, aligned with research-informed character education frameworks (e.g., Character.org's 11 Principles Framework, the Jubilee Centre Framework), Kern Family Foundation expectations, and SST priorities.
  • Support the development, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Character Education 101 Course and the Developing Educators Certification Program.
  • Provide coaching, implementation support, and ongoing monitoring of the Character Education responsibilities assigned to Campus Character Education & Community Engagement Coordinators through regular communication, campus visits, progress monitoring, and implementation reporting.
  • Support data-informed decision making by helping develop and maintain structured data collection, survey administration, implementation evidence, and evaluation systems; identify emerging best practices and educational research; and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen student outcomes, implementation quality, and organizational effectiveness
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of districtwide student engagement initiatives, including Texas Character Education Week, STARS in the Character Sky, the Color the World with Character Traits Poster Drive, C-STREAM Summer Camps, and other district-approved character education initiatives.
  • Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Innovation & Audit, coordinate and provide direct technical assistance to campuses pursuing National School of Character designations and Promising Practices recognition, including implementation coaching, application development, documentation, and submission support
  • Participate in and support SST's representation at local, state, national, and international conferences through presentations, workshops, exhibits, and professional engagement opportunities; and contribute to the development, revision, and dissemination of SST publications, implementation resources, and educational materials, including If Every School
  • Support the implementation of new district-approved character education initiatives, pilot projects, and strategic priorities as assigned
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a passion for continuous improvement by embracing and successfully carrying out new roles, responsibilities, and strategic initiatives that emerge in support of the SST Character Formation Roadmap 2026–2029
