Thorne Distribution in Summerville, SC is seeking a Distribution Supervisor to coordinate daily Shipping operations and lead a team of 10–30 for timely product delivery. The role ensures compliance with cGMPs and SOPs and requires strong leadership and data-entry accuracy.

You will oversee training, certifications, and performance reviews while coordinating with other departments to meet department goals and maintain safety standards across the distribution process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of shipping software and documentation.
• Detail-oriented with data entry skills for shipping docs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day Shipping personnel activities to ensure accurate and timely product delivery per policies and cGMP/SOPs.
• Lead a high-performance team (10-30 direct reports) with coaching and feedback.
• Collaborate with other departments, set department goals and pace.
• Provide clear written and oral directions to Shipping personnel.
• Under Distribution Manager, ensure training and certification programs are current.
• Monitor training progress to meet required levels in a timely manner.
• Ensure performance appraisals for direct reports are conducted timely.
• Update Distribution Manager on order fulfillment accuracy and efficacy.
• Work with other departments on inter-departmental matters.
• Adhere to OSHA and local safety standards.
• Analyze and resolve work problems; assist with problem solving.
• Maintain shipping equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.

Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any required overtime will be scheduled on Thursdays during the same hours.
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the daily operation of Thorne
Research’s Distribution department, as assigned, and in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and applicable Thorne Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates the day-to-day activities of Shipping personnel to assure the accurate and timely delivery of products and other items in accordance with Distribution policies and procedures, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and applicable Thorne Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Leads a high-performance team (10 - 30 direct reports), developing and strengthening staff and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
• Develops teamwork with other departments, communicates goals to the department, sets the pace and is proactive.
• Demonstrates the ability to provide ongoing written and oral direction and clarity to Shipping personnel.
• Under the direction of the Distribution Manager, ensures training and certification programs are current and reviewed on a timely basis (including safety training and forklift certification for applicable employees).
• Monitors employees’ progress throughout their training to ensure they reach required training levels in a timely manner.
• Ensures that performance appraisals for direct reports are conducted in a thorough and timely manner.
• Continually updates the Distribution Manager on the overall accuracy and efficacy of the order fulfillment process, setting and accomplishing team/department goals.
• Works cooperatively with the supervisors and personnel in other departments on matters of inter-departmental interest and concern.
• Responsible for adherence to OSHA and localized safety standards.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Ensures the proper maintenance of all shipping equipment and, if necessary, coordinates with maintenance for repairs.

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• Minimum 3 years’ related experience and/or training. Experience in building and leading high-performance team(s) desirable.
• The employee follows instructions, both verbal and written, and communicates effectively with mangers, supervisors, and fellow employees.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word as well as overall knowledge of shipping
  software (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL).
• Must have sufficient data entry skills and be detailed oriented to process domestic and international shipping documentation.
