Job summary

Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation is hiring a Distribution Fitter B in East Hartford to install and maintain mains and services, grade pipe, and operate heavy equipment. You will drive when required and assist in safety and quality control, reporting to the field supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of high school, trade school or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must have a CDL-B license, or better and a good driving record.
• Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and strength to perform all duties.
• Must be able to comprehend, carry out oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Installs and grades plastic & steel mains and services lines per installation standards.
• Prepares for and installs fittings to install & repair main and service piping.
• Operates pneumatic breakers, jackhammers, tampers, compressors and tapping equipment safely.
• Drives a truck when required and maintains cleanliness of truck and tools.
• Performs manual labor and other duties as required.
• Acts as Inspector or Leak Detection Surveyor when needed.
• Learns duties of higher classification for future promotion potential.
• Complies with safety practices of the Company in all tasks.
• Rotating on-call coverage for after-hours and weekend emergencies.
