Job summary

WSP is seeking an intermediate professional Distribution Engineer for our Syracuse, NY office, with consideration for Plattsburg, Buffalo, and Albany. You will develop electric distribution system designs (120/240V – 69kV), produce construction drawings using AutoCAD and GIS tools, and coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet safety, budget, and schedule targets.

The role emphasizes teamwork, analytical problem-solving, and independent work with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.
• Exposure to operations and project controls experience for purposes of reporting.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
• Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for electric distribution systems, including overhead and underground infrastructure from 120/240V – 69kV.
• Produce construction-ready drawings using AutoCAD, ArcGIS, ESRI, and related tools.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to meet client requirements, safety standards, and budget/schedule constraints.
• Assist with data collection and analysis from sites, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings to support drafting and design activities.
• Support senior engineers with research and recommendations of components identified in design requirements and field equipment applications.
