Actalent in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Distribution Designer to join a growing power delivery team responsible for designing overhead and underground distribution systems that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective power to communities. This role blends design, field work, and client coordination in a practical setting.

You will work with engineers and stakeholders to develop buildable designs, create construction drawings, and support projects from site visits to documentation updates.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a design-related field or 2+ years of design/drafting experience.
• Strong AutoCAD experience.
• Experience creating technical drawings and construction documentation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to perform occasional field visits and site assessments.

We're seeking a Distribution Designer to join a growing power delivery team responsible for designing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective power to communities.

What You'll Be DoingDesign & Engineering

• Develop designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects.
• Create detailed construction drawings, sketches, and project packages.
• Support projects involving cable replacements, system upgrades, new customer connections, and reliability improvements.
• Ensure designs meet client standards, company procedures, and safety requirements.

Field Work & Data Collection

• Visit project sites to gather measurements and field data.
• Conduct visual inspections and document existing conditions.
• Record equipment inventories and site information using electronic tools.
• Use field observations to support practical, buildable designs.

Project Coordination

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and utility stakeholders.
• Work closely with customers, developers, contractors, and local agencies.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and update GIS records.
• Support multiple projects while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.

  Job Type & Location

  Pay and Benefits

  The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

  Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
