We are seeking an experienced Distribution Construction Manager to provide on-site oversight for a major electric utility’s distribution construction program in Texas. This individual will serve as the utility’s owner’s representative, overseeing EPC contractors and ensuring construction activities meet established quality, safety, reporting, and financial requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily field oversight of EPC crews performing electric distribution construction.
- Ensure construction activities meet utility quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Verify contractor staffing and hours worked against submitted time and billing records.
- Monitor materials and equipment using utility-provided tally sheets.
- Serve as the liaison between EPC general foremen, utility crews, and leadership.
- Track construction progress, field changes, issues, and upcoming activities.
- Maintain accurate maps, field reports, photographs, and project documentation.
- Accurately record personal time against the appropriate work-order numbers.
- Attend construction kickoff meetings and weekly project update meetings.
- Support distribution projects involving reconductoring, poles, circuits, transformers, lines, and associated equipment.
- Maintain professional boundaries with contractors while holding crews accountable to utility expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of electric utility distribution construction experience.
- Prior experience as a Distribution Construction Manager, General Foreman, Construction Supervisor, or similar field leadership professional.
- Previous experience as a journeyman lineman is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of distribution line construction, safety requirements, equipment, materials, and field operations.
- Experience overseeing EPC contractors or serving as an owner’s representative is preferred.
- Ability to review field activity, contractor hours, materials, and documentation with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to earn the trust and respect of field crews while maintaining accountability.
- Ability to work outdoors in Texas weather conditions and travel between nearby construction sites.
