Job summary

Genuine Parts Company in Tennessee is seeking a Warehouse Shipping Associate to stage products by route and store location, record with an electronic scanner, and load onto trucks for outgoing overnight shipments.

Responsibilities include consolidating orders, reconciling UPS shipments, and preparing daily/nightly shipments while maintaining a clean, policy-compliant work area in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Forklift certification required.
• Capable of lifting and moving merchandise of up to 60 lbs.
• Able to push/pull up to 300 lbs with mechanical aids.

Job description

Stages product by trip/route number and location (store number, distribution center number, etc.), as it is received from the packing and pulling areas of the stockroom. Uses an electronic scanner to record each piece of product and loads onto trucks by store location for all outgoing overnight shipments and consolidate orders from zone to designated store, while adhering to all safety rules including the handling of hazardous materials.

Position Performance Measures:

Process designated orders by scheduled departure times.Reconciles and prepares all overnight UPS shipments to respective locations.

Experience, Education, Abilities and Working Conditions:

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
• 6 months prior work experience preferred but not required.
• Must be forklift certified.
• Working conditions are subject but not limited to the following: loud or noisy, concrete or grated flooring, varying climate conditions per location, areas exposed to outside elements located near or around the loading/receiving dock.
• Capable of lifting and moving merchandise of up to 60 lbs.
• Able to push/pull up to 300 lbs. using mechanical aids, such as hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts, etc.
• Able to bend or stoop to floor-level shelves and be able to reach shelves (eight feet) with use of stool or ladder when necessary.
• Must be able to get in and out of the back of truck with parts while using a ramp when necessary.
• Able to stand and walk for entire work shift.

Physical Demands / Working Environment

• Environment: Position operates in a warehouse setting with continuous exposure to industrial noise (e.g., forklifts, conveyors, machinery, and loading activities), bright overhead lighting, and varying temperatures due to limited climate control.
• Employees regularly work around moving equipment and mechanical operations and must remain alert to audible and visual safety signals in a fast-paced environment.
