Job summary

American Tire Distributors is seeking a Distribution Center Operations Manager in California. The role oversees daily warehouse and/ or transportation activities, leading shifts and drivers, while ensuring safety, quality and delivery goals in collaboration with the General Manager.

The ideal candidate has 5 years of related experience, including supervisory roles, and will deploy supply chain best practices to drive continuous improvement within the DC.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of related experience including 2-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management abilities.

  • Lead daily huddles at the DC to ensure employees understand work tasks expectations and deliverables along with creating engagement and building the values-based culture.
  • Provide leadership support for the DC General Manager.

The Distribution Center Operations Manager oversees and supervises daily operations, focusing on transportation and/or warehouse management. They lead assigned shifts and employees, directly managing warehouse associates and/or drivers. The DC Ops Manager collaborates closely with the General Manager to ensure the facility meets safety, compliance, quality, and delivery goals while coaching and developing their team. Additionally, they contribute to deploying and executing supply chain strategy, driving continuous improvement within the distribution center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and manage the day-to-day activities for warehouse associates and/or delivery associates assigned to different shifts.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift products weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Handling of tires (e.g., rolling, destacking, team lifting) greater than approximately 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Travel required: 5% of the time.
