The Kendall Group, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Center Associate II to support receiving, storing, and distributing products at our Michigan facility.

You will participate in inventory control, order fulfillment, packing, loading, and safe operations to maintain efficient warehouse performance. Ideal candidates have at least one year of warehouse experience, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Queue management in company system and order processing.
  • Research shipping/receiving discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Dispute and resolve vendor receipts; train owner-associates on procedures.
  • Perform distribution center duties: receive, place in inventory, pick, pack, and ship stock.
  • Handle customer returns and defects; ensure accurate inventory counts.
  • Operate forklift or hand trucks; assist in cycle counting and housekeeping.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Distribution Center Shift Supervisor, the Distribution Center Associate II is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing different products by performing various duties to help maintain overall efficiency and operation of the Distribution Center. In addition to these duties the Distribution Center Associate II may perform certain tasks requiring higher skill levels, troubleshooting, and may participate in the training of Distribution Center Associates.

Exciting work you will do

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Distribution Center Associate II position may consist of some or all, and are not limited to, the following:

  • Queue management in Company business system
  • Research shipping and receiving discrepancies
  • Dispute and resolution of vendor receipts
  • Train owner-associates on proper procedures
  • Perform defined Distribution Center activities specific to the receipt, placement into inventory, selection for shipment, and shipment of stock
  • Handle customer returns and defects
  • Pick orders accurately and promptly
  • Pack orders
  • Receive inventory accurately and promptly
  • Restock inventory in designated storage areas
  • Truck loading and unloading according to established procedures
  • Operate forklift, hand trucks, or other equipment
  • Inventory cycle counting
  • Accurately identify and count inventory in assigned areas
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of the Distribution Center
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation and report problems to supervision
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Other Distribution Center tasks as assigned

What you'll need
Work Experience
  • One year of previous warehouse experience
Analytics/Computer Skills
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanners, printers, and standard warehouse equipment and tools; proficiency in basic computer operation; basic math and reasoning skills
Organization Skills
  • Excellent work ethic; good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently
Cross-functional Skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under the direction of a Supervisor or Distribution Center Lead
Communication Skills
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization; ability to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
Physical, Mental and Visual Skills
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs; ability to stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during the entire work shift; ability to climb stair/step ladders up to 16 steps
Physical Environment
  • Exposure to temperature conditions prevalent at the time; noise level consistent with that of a distribution center
Qualifications we prefer but don't require
  • Previous experience picking orders with an RF scanner is preferred; ability to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, and cranes
