Job description

Position Purpose:

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to perform the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center efficiently, safely, and productively. This role manages team members, ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, and develops team goals. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates, overseeing 20 to 30 associates.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Managing Process (45%): Ensures operational procedures are followed effectively, recommends changes to improve processes, and evaluates work methods to eliminate inefficiencies.
2. Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides associates in daily tasks, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality; trains, coaches, evaluates, and resolves relation issues; manages hiring, discipline, and termination.
3. Drives Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and improves metrics such as productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
4. Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
5. Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Reporting Structure:

• Typically reports to the Operations Manager.
• Supervises work activities of others, including shifts or multiple work groups, and participates in hiring, performance reviews, and professional development.

Travel and Physical Requirements:

• Overnight travel less than 10%.
• Requires physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting, and climbing, sometimes with heavy or awkward materials.

Working Conditions:

• Indoor environment with infrequent unpleasant conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18+, authorized to work in the U.S., flexible with shifts, and willing to relocate.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, computer skills, warehouse management system experience, 3+ years supervisory experience.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED, 2 years of work experience, no leadership experience required.
