Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Stock Clerk to support the Materials Management Department by receiving, storing, and issuing materials while maintaining accurate stock records. The role assists with inventory management and warehouse operations on a daily basis.

You will help maintain nursing unit supply levels, fulfill requests within 24 hours, rotate stock to minimize waste, and keep the warehouse clean and organized. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to train to perform stockroom duties and inventory control.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital supply environment.
  • Maintain accuracy in stock records and daily requisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate supply levels on nursing units and restock JIT carts.
  • Fulfill stockroom requests within 24 hours; expedite STAT orders as needed.
  • Rotate stock to ensure oldest inventory is used first and check expiration dates.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized; dispose of cardboard properly.
  • Assist in restocking and notify supervisors of stockouts or changes.

Under the general direction of the Stockroom Supervisor, the Stock Clerk assists with various aspects of the Materials Management Department including receiving, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, and equipment. This role is responsible for taking inventories and maintaining stock records in the warehouse.

I. Major Responsibilities
  • 1. Maintain appropriate supply levels on nursing units, including daily ordering and restocking of JIT supply carts.
  • 2. Fulfill stockroom supply requests within 24 hours for routine orders and promptly for STAT/emergency orders.
  • 3. Rotate stock to ensure oldest inventory is used first and check for expiration dates.
  • 4. Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse, including sweeping floors and disposing of cardboard properly.
  • 5. Assist in restocking supplies and notify supervisors of stockouts or usage changes.
II. Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education

Required:

  • 1. High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 2. Valid driver's license in the state of residence with a good driving record.

Experience/Skills

Required:

  • 1. Willingness to train.

Preferred:

  • 1. Previous stockroom/inventory experience.
  • 2. Previous healthcare experience.
