Job summary

The State of Florida Department of Health in Melbourne is seeking a DISTRIBUTED COMPUTER SYSTEMS SPECIALIST to provide helpdesk support, install and upgrade distributed systems, configure OS and applications, and deliver onsite troubleshooting at DOH sites. You will manage user access and maintain inventory while ensuring security and policy compliance.

The role requires Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 proficiency, AD and HMS familiarity, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Six or more months of experience with computers and electronics.
  • Six or more months with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • One or more years of experience providing customer or personal services.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license; if out of state, Florida license within 30 days.

Your Specific Responsibilities
  • Receives telephone, email, customer portal, and in-person helpdesk requests; creates tickets with information obtained. Works tickets to troubleshoot/resolve incidents and complete requests, or escape to other support teams as deemed necessary. Utilizes software such as Remote Control Viewer, Microsoft Configuration Manager Console, Active Directory Remote Server Administration Tools, and other network/monitoring tools to troubleshoot issues remotely.
  • Installs and implements distributed computer systems hardware, software, and communications components, including enhancements and upgrades. Monitors hardware to ensure it is properly maintained.
  • Configures operating systems, applications, and services and their integration with other applications, computers, printers, and/or peripherals.
  • Provides onsite support for issues that cannot be resolved remotely, including, but not limited to, troubleshooting network and computer hardware and software onsite; replacing, re-imaging, and staging new computer systems (this includes driving to various locations / DOH-Brevard sites).
  • Processes User Access Requests; administers user accounts, security groups, and permissions across systems and applications including, but not limited to, Active Directory, Health Management System (HMS), Florida State Health Online Tracking System (Florida SHOTS), Dentrix Enterprise, and eProgress. Ensures that requests are processed in accordance with principles of least privilege and DOH policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an inventory of the networks' distributed processing hardware, software, including serial numbers, property numbers, level of software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise/Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Speaking, reading comprehension, active listening, writing, critical thinking, and complex problem solving skills.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Six or more months of experience working with computers and electronics.
  • Six or more months of experience working with Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise/Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • One or more years of experience providing customer or personal services.

Preferred
  • One or more years of Information Technology helpdesk experience.
  • One or more years of experience supporting Windows 10/11 operating systems in an Active Directory environment.

  • Associate’s degree (or higher) in Information Technology or a related field.
