NC State University invites applications for the Stephen H. Conger Sr. Distinguished Professor in Sustainable Materials and Technology in the Department of Forest Biomaterials.

We seek an interdisciplinary scholar with an outstanding record in research, teaching, and leadership. The position is a 9‑month appointment at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, with potential to appoint as Distinguished Professor at the Chancellor's discretion.

Qualifications

• Teach in the SWST Accredited Sustainable Materials and Technology program.
• Strong record of teaching and research in biomaterials manufacturing, composites, construction materials, value-added fiber products, and sustainable packaging materials and technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership and commitment to academic excellence and student success.
• Proven ability to attract research funding from federal agencies, industrial partners, and other sources.
• Distinguished record of publishing impactful research in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Teach two core classes annually in the Sustainable Materials and Technology program.
• Advise and mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
• Publish research articles in peer‑reviewed journals and produce other scholarly products.
• Develop a nationally and internationally recognized research program in Sustainable Materials and Technology, including areas such as sustainable bioproducts, construction materials, and packaging materials.
