Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to lead the cloud-based machine learning platform. You will design scalable compute infrastructure, build distributed engines with Spark and Ray, and mentor teams while advancing AI capabilities across the organization.

You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and ML practitioners, champion engineering excellence, and recruit top talent to sustain Capital One Tech's innovation in a fast-moving, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent professional experience.
• Master's Degree in CS or Software Engineering preferred.
• 7+ years in software engineering; design of distributed systems and backend APIs.
• 3+ years with public cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build highly available, multi-tenant ML platform components.
• Develop Ray and Spark solutions to accelerate workloads, from model training to data processing.
• Automate KTLO workflows and drive operational excellence.
• Lead diverse projects across distributed microservices and large foundation models.
• Collaborate with product, program management and partners to optimize business outcomes.
• Share knowledge and mentor teams; engage with internal/external tech communities.
• Recruit external talent to bolster Capital One Tech.
