PetroChina International (America), Inc. is seeking a Senior Biofuel Trader to lead physical and paper trading of renewable diesel, biodiesel, SAF, and related markets in the Americas, with global connectivity to Latin America, Asia, and Europe.

The role manages tankage positions, develops a regional biofuel business, and interfaces with Operations, Contracts, Credit, Risk Control, and other teams to maximize enterprise value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 8+ years trading experience.
  • Strong focus on biofuel physical trading with derivatives knowledge.
  • Deep knowledge of US biofuel logistics.
  • Ability to develop new business relationships and capture opportunities.
  • Self-starting, team player in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Trade physical biofuel in the Americas and global market.
  • Coordinate hedge strategies and execute related financial trades.
  • Support growth of PetroChina’s biofuel trading in US and LATAM.
  • Interact with global traders to develop opportunities and execute arbitrage.
  • Monetize arbitrage and market structure through physical and paper markets.
  • Coordinate with mid-office and back-office teams in Beijing and elsewhere.
  • Support junior traders and analysts for long-term development.

Job description

The Senior Biofuel Trader is accountable for the trading activities (physical and paper) as it relates to renewable diesel, biodiesel, SAF, RINS, LCFS, optimization, and trading for profit in the Americas with a primary focus in the physical and blending business. The trader is also responsible for connecting the regional activity into the global team in Latin America, Asia (Beijing, Singapore, India, Dubai, etc.), and Europe. This role actively manages biofuel activities, managing tankage positions, developing a regional biofuel business, integration with global arbitrage flows and managing financial trading positions. This job will interact with different groups within PCIA including Operations, Contracts, Credit, Risk Control and others, always taking into account enterprise value.

Responsibilities:
  • Trade physical Biofuel in the Americas and global market
  • Coordinate hedge strategies for physical and storage to take advantage of market structure opportunities; Execute the financial trades associated with those strategies when required
  • Support the strategic business development and growth of PetroChina’s biofuel trading presence in the US, Latin America
  • Interact and coordinate with other traders and marketers from global team to develop physical biofuel trading opportunities, and execute arbitrage deals
  • Fully monetize arbitrage and market structure opportunities by taking positions in both the physical and paper markets. Utilize combination of derivatives and exchange cleared instruments to hedge, manage pricing exposure and optimize trading positions
  • Interact and coordinate with the mid-office, back-office and PCI’s Products department in Beijing in order to support biofuel trading business development
  • Support junior traders / analysts for long term development
  • Meet accountabilities while complying with all relevant PetroChina policies as well as legal and regulatory requirements
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree combined with a minimum of 8 years trading experience
  • A clear focus on biofuel physical trading but also knowledgeable and experienced in the use of derivatives and other biofuel products
  • Strong knowledge of US logistics of biofuel products
  • Strong trading and logistics knowledge of international biofuel market, and the domestic U.S. biofuel market,
  • Capability to work with others traders and marketers as a global team
  • Proven ability to develop new business relationships and capture new opportunities
  • Self-starting, team player with ability to multi-task in a dynamic, high-pressure team environment
