Job summary

Apple is seeking a Display Metrology Engineer in Cupertino to design and develop calibration and testing solutions for display modules. You will work with cross‑functional teams on calibration requirements and develop industry‑leading metrology methodologies, including test sequences for optical instruments and display components.

Description

You will be responsible for designing and developing objective solutions for calibrating, characterizing, and testing display modules and components for Apple products. You will work on test systems design, development, validation, and production deployment during the engineering stage, with support from SW/HW cross‑functional teams. Work with cross‑functional teams to define calibration & measurement requirements and propose optimal solutions. Develop, characterize and validate such industry‑leading display metrology methodologies and solutions. Develop test sequences that control optical instruments, electronics driving boards, fixture controllers, and display modules. Conduct failure analysis of measurement systems and define corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Optics, Physics, Applied Science, or Engineering with 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working in metrology of display products (OLED, LCD, LED), having a strong passion and curiosity about this area.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Display design, characterization, calibration or test; Optical instruments, such as CCD/CMOS camera, spectrophotometers, colorimeters; or Color science, image processing and machine vision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in related field.
  • Experience developing and qualifying metrology systems and instruments.
  • Experience with software control of HW instrumentation.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills; positive outlook and eagerness to step into uncharted technology spaces while being able to engineer solutions to meet project timelines.
  • Ability to own areas of responsibility, being able to self‑motivate and work independently.
Compensation and Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
