Dispatcher, Part-time Nights & Weekends

Job Summary

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for dispatching and resolving problems for our company drivers, contracted drivers, and/or carriers. This position requires you to have exceptional proactive communication skills with internal and external customers, including promptly resolving issues with pickup and delivery, monitoring check call completion, activity documentation, and overall promoting a professional workplace attitude in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor loads assigned to drivers, resolve issues that may affect scheduled pickup or delivery times, proactively communicate with affected customers; typical problems include truck mechanical issues, traffic or weather, or customer‑directed shipment changes.
  • Maintain documentation of driver detention time to ensure accurate, on‑time pay.
  • Maintain company safety culture via daily safety messages and monthly driver briefings; enforce company policies to ensure compliance with DOT and company requirements.
  • Support other team members as needed.
  • Communicate professionally, timely, and effectively with internal and external drivers via phone calls and system messages; build and maintain a positive attitude to strengthen driver engagement, minimize turnover and improve driver satisfaction and productivity.
  • Manage company equipment to improve operation efficiency and profitability by coordinating with fleet maintenance teams and drivers to ensure vehicle readiness.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with up to 1 year of Transportation, Customer Service, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated skills: ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas; meet or exceed driver needs to provide excellent service; work constructively with a variety of individuals and groups; adapt to a dynamic work environment and shifting priorities.

Preferred Qualifications: 1–2 years of transportation, customer service, or other relevant experience.

Schedule
  • Thursday & Friday 5 PM to midnight
  • Saturday & Sunday 3 PM to midnight
Compensation

Factors affecting starting pay include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may be eligible for an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes according to the company’s bonus and incentive plans.
