City of St. Joseph in Missouri seeks a Dispatcher/Clerk for the Public Works & Transportation department to operate the City radio, maintain logs, and handle after-hours calls. Requires high school diploma and strong computer/communications skills. No supervisory duties.
Responsibilities include logging fuel usage, weather reporting, street closures, and after-hours dispatch for maintenance crews. Overtime on-call duties and background checks are standard for employment.

Operates City radio and maintains various records and logs, answers telephone calls after hours and on weekends. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
Knowledge of city geography and street locations.
Skills in Microsoft Office and knowledge of asset management software preferred.

Operates a two-way radio, telephones, and a PC. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Work performed inside in an office environment. Occasional outside surveillance. Able to sit for long periods. Must be alert. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent required or must be able to obtain within 6 months. One to three years’ experience preferred.
