Job summary

UNFI in West Sacramento, CA seeks a dispatch associate to manage truck dispatch and driver monitoring for on-time deliveries. Responsibilities include processing invoices, maintaining route progress, and communicating with customers on delays.

The role supports late-shift operations (Sun-Thurs, 9 PM–5:30 AM) and requires strong organizational, communication and safety knowledge for fast-paced logistics workflows.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Customer Care for service escalations.
• Handle driver packets, invoices and reporting.
• Dispatch repairs and report accidents.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Report policy violations to supervisor.

Job description

Responsible for dispatching trucks for on-time departure. Monitors drivers and shares info with affected customers to notify them of potential late deliveries or problems.

The shift is Sun-Thurs, 9 PM- 5:30 AM

Job Responsibilities

• Processes customer invoices and assembles delivery paperwork.
• Monitors shipping and route progress in SCI and PeopleNet Link and verifies on-time arrivals.
• Breaks down driver packets and processes customer invoices.
• Collaborates with Customer for late truck notifications. May engage Customer Care for service escalations.
• Sorts, separates, and files invoices, route packets, and driver inspections.
• Completes data entry of equipment information, driver start/end times, and actual delivery times.
• Handles all incoming calls and emails.
• Re-dispatches drivers as needed for coverage and to support on-time deliveries.
• Dispatches repair services for equipment breakdowns and handle accident reporting procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report violations of company policy to supervisor.
• Perform other relevant job duties as required.

Job requirements

Experience

• Transportation/Dispatch experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

• Understanding of Safety guidelines
• Must have the ability to react to fast-paced, stressful situations in a calm, professional, and efficient manner
• Ability to prioritize and work independently with good organizational and time management skills
• Must have good communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
• Astute, with close attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Familiar with delivery routes and DOT rules and regulations
• Understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position.
