Disney Live Entertainment invites students in Industrial Design or related fields to join the Character Programs & Development Digital Design team in Orlando, FL. You will help build production-ready digital assets, create technical drawings, and develop specs to bring characters to life across Disney Parks, Resorts & Cruise Ships.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited program, be 18 or older, submit a portfolio with 10 best pieces, and participate in the January 2027 to June 2027

The approximate date of this internship is January 2027 to June 2027, located in Orlando, FL.

What You Will Do

As part of the Character Programs & Development Digital Design team, we collaborate with Digital Sculptors, Materials Teams, and production partners/vendors to help inform production capabilities, limitations, and consider the potential cost impact of design, production, and technology choices. The Industrial Design Intern will help build production-ready digital assets, technical drawings, and specs of varied products to bring characters to life across all Disney Parks, Resorts & Cruise Ships, worldwide.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Ability to proficiently build/communicate design concepts through 3D design software while showcasing innovative and creative design solutions, with a strong emphasis on complex CAD surface modeling and design
• Ability to process ideas through physical prototyping/mockup creation with strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product development methodologies
• Effective understanding of the detailed relationship between aesthetics/function and ergonomics, human factors, and user experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD Software. (e.g. Solidworks, Autodesk Fusion360, Rhino)
• Recognizable passion for 3D Printing, model making, Toy Design, 3D scanning, Costume Design, prop making, etc.
• Experience with digital sculpting tools (e.g. Zbrush, Blender, Maya)
• Collaborative problem solver with the ability to communicate/work with cross-functional teams

Education

• Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student level with a degree in : Industrial Design, Product Design, Toy Design, Themed Entertainment Design, Animatronics, or MechanicalEngineering

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all the requirements below:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class at the time of application posting, OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Possess a valid US driver's license and have the ability to operate a company vehicle
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
