Job summary

Jet Midwest in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Dismantle Technician to perform dismantle operations on commercial aircraft and assist with removing components and assemblies. You will read technical drawings and complete required paperwork for removed components.

You will work with heavy equipment and collaborate with internal and external teams in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strong English communication and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical maintenance in aviation/related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dismantle operations on commercial aircraft and remove components.
  • Clean removed parts and ensure proper identification.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
  • Maintain required paperwork for removed components.
  • Collaborate with internal/external team members and vendors.
  • Lead and manage parts/dismantling projects.

Position Description

Title: Dismantle Technician

Status: Full Time

Department: JMT Organization

Summary

As a Dismantle Technician, you will perform dismantle operations and assist the team with dismantle operations on commercial aircraft such as 757, 767, 777, and others to remove components, subassemblies, and assemblies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Included, But Not Limited To
  • Perform dismantle operations on commercial aircraft such as 757, 767, 777, and others to remove components, subassemblies, and assemblies
  • Clean removed parts as needed to ensure proper identification
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions
  • Limited inspection and evaluation of specified components to assist with parts identification
  • Complete all required paperwork for removed components
  • Work with appropriate heavy equipment (forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, etc) to facilitate dismantlement operations
  • Assist with movement of aircraft on the property
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • You love mechanical systems and have some experience working with mechanical tools professionally or as a hobby

  • You have strong proficiency, both verbal and written, with the English language
  • You have High School Diploma or equivalent
  • You have 1-2 years of experience, training, and demonstrated performance in mechanical maintenance (aircraft, automotive, or related)
    • Have a thorough working knowledge of ATA chapters and codes
    • Have experience reading and interpreting aircraft maintenance manuals
    • Have certification or continuing education in an aviation maintenance field
    • Love technology and can leverage social media to build relationships
    • Are familiar with Slack, Quantum ERP, and ADP Workforce Management HRM system
    • Have great relationships with vendors already in place
Physical Demands & Work Environment

While performing the responsibilities of the Dismantle Technician, you will be performing work while standing for the majority of your workday. 10-15% of your job duties will require the ability to: walk long distances, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, and utilize basic hand tools. The noise level is highly variable, as work may be performed in a variety of environments. Other physical demands of the position include exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and 10-25 pounds of force frequently, as well as lifting and carrying heavy objects utilizing safe lifting techniques.
