Job summary

Lafayette Hotels in Portland, Maine is seeking a friendly, dependable dishwasher to support its culinary team. You will wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, and equipment in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Under supervision, you’ll help maintain a spotless kitchen, follow health and safety guidelines, and contribute to a positive team environment. Training will be provided to the right candidate and growth opportunities exist within our Maine hotels and restaurants.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow through with all assigned tasks.
• Ability to clearly communicate with Back of House Supervisors.
• Operates within proper safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Maintains good communication with co-workers and maintains a positive and professional work environment.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Some experience in the restaurant or kitchen maintenance area is preferred.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Keep all equipment, utensils, and containers clean and ready for use.
• Clean floors, walls, washtubs, counters, and shelves; mop sink area.
• Empty boxes and trash.
• Properly dispose of grease and garbage left in pots and pans.
• Defrost and clean refrigerators and iceboxes.
• Dump and clean the garbage can.
• Stock serving stations with dishes and utensils.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of trash.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area following health/food safety regulations.
• Ensure all equipment and work areas are free from clutter and non-approved items.
