Qualifications

• No formal education requirement; six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a busy kitchen environment.
• Basic math for counting and recording figures accurately.
• Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and communicate supply needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile.
• Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans thoroughly and consistently.
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean and neat at all times.
• Remove trash promptly and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area.
• Answer telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call.
• Collaborate with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other store areas as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain personal hygiene, dress standards, and Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.

What You'll Do

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines

Your Skills

To be successful, you'll need to be able to:

• Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables

• Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately

• Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing

• Work effectively as part of a team to keep the kitchen clean and running smoothly

Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Manager; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager

Education and Experience

• No education requirement; six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas

• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation

• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment

• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards

• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This role is performed in a kitchen environment where you will be on your feet throughout your shift. You will have exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals or solvents, temperature extremes, and possible electrical hazards. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.
