Job summary

DO & CO group in New York is seeking a Dish-Room Supervisor to oversee all dishwashing operations, ensure equipment cleanliness, and manage timelines aligned with flight schedules. The role requires leadership, hands-on supervision, and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of supervisory experience, a high school diploma (Associate’s degree preferred), and bilingual English/Spanish.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a similar position.
  • High school diploma or GED; an Associate’s degree preferred.
  • English and Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Proficient dish room knowledge of terms, procedures, and practices.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Able to stand long hours and work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee dishwashing room operations during the shift.
  • Ensure proper use and cleaning of dishwashing machines.
  • Unload and categorize flight trolleys and equipment.
  • Verify water temperature and chemical levels for cleaning.
  • Maintain stacking and storage of clean wares per company standards.
  • Report sanitation or operational issues promptly to management.
  • Train new dishwashers and monitor performance.
  • Support duty managers to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the correct functioning and usage of all dishwashing machines to clean all soiled equipment while adhering to international waste protocols and managing spill cleanup.
  • Unload and categorize flight trolleys and equipment, such as plates, bowls, trays, and silverware, based on class and type into designated plastic bins.
  • Verify and document appropriate water temperature and chemical levels for cleaning processes.
  • Supervise the stacking and sorting of clean equipment according to company specifications, ensuring all washed articles are placed in their respective areas.
  • Take charge of dishwashing room operations during the assigned shift, ensuring all dishwashers adhere to appropriate timelines and complete assigned tasks according to flight times and departures.
  • Maintain and adhere to all company guidelines regarding cleaning and sanitation while providing a safe work area and promptly reporting any sanitation issues to the relevant party.
  • Promptly report any issues within the department, such as production, inventory, or team-related matters.
  • Facilitate training of new dishwashers while monitoring their performance.
  • Support and assist duty managers to ensure a smooth operation while fulfilling other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 year of supervisory experience in a similar position, showcasing leadership skills.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish is preferred.
  • Proficient dish room knowledge of terms, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrates outstanding organizational skills and a knack for prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Capable of seamlessly managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, dealing with a substantial workload, and sustaining periods of extended standing as required.
  • Adopts a hands-on approach and exhibits the ability to respond promptly with a sense of urgency.
  • The position entails physical demands, necessitating the ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push as needed.
  • Excellent in computer operations, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interact and work well within a diverse group with experience/exposure to leadership roles.
  • Ability to work long hours on foot and in environments with varying temperatures.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on business needs.

  • Salary range: $66,300 - $75,000 annually.
