Job summary

Lansdale Presbyterian Church in Hatfield Township, PA is seeking a full-time Discipleship Pastor to provide leadership and oversight for its Christian Discipleship efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing curriculum, leading training programs, and engaging a culturally diverse congregation.

This position requires a passionate believer committed to equipping others for ministry, with a focus on children’s, youth, and adult education. You will lead a team and be an integral part of a community passionate about living for Christ.

Job description

Lansdale Presbyterian Church (LPC) is a gospel-centered, multi-generational congregation in the suburbs of Philadelphia with a vision to gather a community to live for Christ. We pursue this mission through four key strategies: Encourage, Grow, Equip, and Go.

We are seeking a Discipleship Pastor who will provide leadership, vision, and oversight for the Christian Discipleship of Lansdale Presbyterian Church including the development and/or review and selection of curriculum for educational classes and ministries (children’s and youth ministries and adult Sunday School), community groups, and the design, development/selection, and execution of training for ministry and community group leaders in keeping with our reformed standards. This is a full-time, salaried position accountable to the Session and Lead Pastor.

We are seeking an Assistant Pastor with the expectation that the right individual will move into an Associate Pastor role as a long-term member of our pastoral team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the church’s Christian Discipleship Ministries Team(CDM) and chair CDM committee meetings
2. Lead church-wide Community Groups including design and develop (or select) Community Group curriculum as well as recruiting, discipling, and training Community Group Leaders
3. Provide strategic direction and leadership for Children’s and Youth Ministries
4. Provide strategic direction and oversight of Adult Sunday School
5. Develop and/or select curriculum for Children’s, Youth and Adult Sunday School ensuring biblical fidelity consistent with Reformed standards and spiritual growth
6. Develop or select and lead training programs for ministry leaders
7. Teach in a variety of church education settings
8. Observe classes and ministries and provide feedback and coaching to teachers and leaders
9. Provide oversight to the church library
10. Perform pastoral duties including preaching as needed in coordination with the Lead Pastor

7. Able to clearly communicate and apply Scripture across a variety of settings reaching diverse congregants across generational, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds

Experience

Demonstrated experience in:

1. Discipling, and especially encouraging, guiding, and inspiring ministry leaders and community group leaders
2. Development of curriculum for Christian Education ministries such as Sunday School classes, affinity groups, etc.
3. Creation and execution of training programs for ministry and group leaders
4. Reaching diverse congregants, especially across generational, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds
