Job summary

First Baptist Church of Avoca seeks a humble, godly, mature man to shepherd and grow the church through evangelism, teaching, and discipling. Primary tasks include discipleship and pastoral care in harmony with the senior pastor.

The associate pastor must meet Scriptural qualifications, embody a shepherd’s heart, and be committed to prayer, preaching, and pastoral care within the church community.

Qualifications

• Must meet the qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
• Embodies heart of a shepherd as described in 1 Peter 5:1-4.
• Desires to serve as associate pastor with love for Christ.

Responsibilities

• Prayer: pray for spiritual growth of members and families and for gospel proclamation.
• Planning: organize groups that pray, teach the Word, and disciple believers.
• Leader development: identify, mentor, and equip leaders to disciple others.
• Teaching: faithfully teach the Bible, lead Bible studies, and preach on Sundays.
• Pastoral care: provide spiritual counsel for individuals to grow in Christ.
• Evaluation: review and improve discipleship ministries for Biblical faithfulness.
• Administration: assist with church admin and evangelism/discipleship ministries.
• Collaboration: coordinate with senior pastor, Leadership Council, and ministry leaders.
