Description of Work

The Disability Coordinator within the Student Services with Disabilities office may provide one of the first interactions with students seeking services within the department. We are seeking a detail oriented, customer service focused individual to join our team.

As the Disability Coordinator you will:

  • Work with our students, staff and faculty who are requesting services or departmental information.
  • Provide direct assistance to students with disabilities in setting up accommodations.
  • Assisting in the coordination of accommodations with Faculty/Staff and follow up with students about their accommodations they are using.
  • Initiate and process confidential administrative case management by providing necessary documents and applications, correspondence on status, and update electronic files.
  • Support the Director and the student advocacy team by performing a combination of administrative and complex office work associated with the office, program administration, and data collection/entry. Provide data support and system oversight of the SSD intake software system.
  • Analyze statistics and create ad hoc reports.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in disability studies, rehabilitation, counseling, special education, social work, psychology, or related fields is required and/or equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum 2 years demonstrated administrative and/or office management experience. Experience working with or providing support to with persons with disabilities within a post secondary institution. Demonstrated ability of and a well-developed working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize and delegate work assignments while exercising the highest degree of confidentiality. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills necessary. Experience working or providing support with persons with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in disability studies, rehabilitation, counseling, special education, social work, psychology, or related fields.Experience working within four year higher education setting serving undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities. Experience working in an environment with considerable interaction with people. Experience working with disability related matters or working with matters that require a high degree of confidentiality, precision, and accuracy. Experience working with time-sensitive assignments and tasks. Experience working with college students, faculty, college staff (e.g., advisors, financial aid, student affairs, etc.). Experience with case management and assessment.
