  • Provide individual counseling, guidance, advocacy, and support services to students with disabilities.

  • Research and coordinate equipment, assistive technology, and program resources.
  • Establish partnerships with community organizations and vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Center and disability-related agencies.
  • Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation to ensure eligible students receive assessments, services, and benefits.
  • Facilitate enrollment to Vocational Rehabilitation, SSI, and other programs when applicable.
  • Coordinate referrals for speech therapy, evaluations, and medical accommodations with Health and Wellness staff.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, confidential documentation per policies and regulations.
  • Monitor progress and recommend accommodations and support strategies.
  • Must have regular attendance and ability to interact with the public.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects.

About this position

Job Summary: The Disability Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Center's Disability Program to ensure equal access, support, and success for students with disabilities. This position provides counseling, guidance, advocacy, and coordination of services to help students fully participate in the Job Corps program and achieve their educational, vocational, and personal goals. The Disability Coordinator serves as a key liaison among students, staff, community agencies, and vocational rehabilitation partners to promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Participate in the initial screening and assessment of applicants with disabilities to determine program suitability and identify accommodation needs.
  • Coordinate housing and accessibility requirements prior to student arrival and maintain pre-arrival communication to ensure all necessary supports are in place.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Office and Health and Wellness staff to review applications and ensure appropriate placement and service planning.
  • Conduct vocational assessments to identify students' strengths, interests, abilities, and career goals.
  • Develop and coordinate work-based learning opportunities, community work experience sites, and employment placements for students with disabilities.
  • Provide individual counseling, guidance, advocacy, and support services to students with disabilities, assisting them in overcoming barriers to success.
  • Collaborate with Center staff to promote student adjustment, participation, and achievement within all aspects of the program.
  • Identify training needs and provide Center-wide education and awareness programs related to disability inclusion, accommodations, and accessibility.
  • Research, obtain, and coordinate specialized equipment, assistive technology, and program resources necessary to support students with disabilities.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with community organizations, state agencies, vocational rehabilitation services, and other disability-related resources.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Center and agencies supporting individuals with disabilities.
  • Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation agencies to ensure eligible students receive appropriate assessments, services, and benefits.
  • Facilitate enrollment and timely access to Vocational Rehabilitation, SSI, and other available support programs when applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Two years’ experience in working with disabled individuals.
